The Waydown is an outdoor patio, so it is closed during wintertime. Its name comes from a John Prince song, Way Down. John Prince is from Illinois, and he was a country and folk singer. Although, the music at Waydown features more EDM and Hip Hop, rather than country.
Unlike other Chicago nightclubs, the Waydown is more low-key. You can’t book bottle service and you don’t need reservations. It’s meant to offer a relaxed vibe within the old-fashioned ‘watering hole’ style.
